Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms, Step Brothers) denied the announcement that she is getting her own Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) show, according to ScreenRant. The supposed show, based around her WandaVision character and antagonist of the show Agatha Harkness, was reported to be in early development at Marvel by Variety Magazine in early October. At the time, representatives for both Hahn and WandaVision’s head writer, Jac Shaeffer (Black Widow, Timer), did not respond to Variety’s initial request for a comment.
At the red carpet premiere for her new show, The Shrink Next Door, Hahn told Entertainment Tonight about her real future in the MCU. Hahn claimed she knew nothing about an Agatha spinoff, but playfully left fans with an inkling of hope.
“I don’t know if there is such a thing as a WandaVision spin-off, honey. I have to be honest, all I can say is I love Agatha. As we know, anything can happen in Marvel. So who knows?” Hahn told Entertainment Tonight.
Her coy demeanor and choice words have left a lot of fans speculating as to whether she is really toying with eager fans or simply really does not know of any spinoff. While the MCU has been very open to villain centered projects (Loki, and the newly rumored Thunderbolts movie for 2023) no official word from Disney or Marvel has hinted towards an upcoming show.
What has also convinced fans that the show is happening is the fact that Hahn and Marvel agreed on a multi movie/show deal for Hahn’s character, according to ScreenRant.
WandaVision aired in January 2021 as Disney Plus’s flagship MCU show and starred Elizabeth Olsen (Wind River, Avengers: Age of Ultron) and Paul Bettany (Legion, A Knight’s Tale) as the titular heroes Wanda Maximoff and Vision. The show aired for nine episodes to critic and audience praise and opened the door for fellow MCU shows on the platform Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki.
