Katherine Langford will be making her grand return to Netflix soon. The actress quickly became a breakout star with her previous show, 13 Reasons Why. The show was seen as both controversial and necessary for conversations on teen suicide, bullying, and mental health issues. She went by the name of Hannah Baker on the show – a teen who commits suicide but leaves tapes behind rather than a note. The tapes are given to the people who she thinks had taken part in her suicide. This powerful role was hard to portray on TV, but Langford knocked it out the park all the while receiving her first Golden Globe nomination. Although she is no longer attached to the show, she is dearly missed.
Now we will see Langford in a new role on Netflix’s Cursed which is a comic book written by Tom Wheeler and illustrated by Frank Miller. The book, itself, is yet to be released in fall 2019. The names attached to this project are well-known within their fields. Wheeler is known for his writings of The Lego Ninjago Movie and The Cape. The director, Zetna Fuentes, holds her own credentials with TV shows How to Get Away with Murder, Shameless, and The Chi. Her previous works have proven to be successful amongst viewers. She is set to direct the first two episodes and will also serve as an executive producer.
Langford will play the lead role of teenager Nimue, who is based on girl version of King Arthur. We will see her navigate her way throughout the show as the Lady of the Lake when terror strikes and a war begins. The theme of the series is relatable to our political climate as it can bring forth important topics of discussion that are very much needed. Langford is no stranger to talking about worldwide issues.
It will be exciting to see what Langford, an already talented individual, bring to the series.
