According to Entertainment Weekly, Katherine Heigl has been cast for the reshoot of the pilot for CBS’ Doubt.
Katherine Heigl will be replacing Private Practice‘s KaDee Strickland in the reshoot. Teddy Sears originally starred alongside Strickland, but Variety has learned that his role will also be recast. However, there are still original cast members who will be returning for the reshoot. Dreama Walker, Dulé Hill, Kobi Libii, Elliott Gould and Orange Is the New Black’s Laverne Cox will return for their roles.
Heigl will play Sadie Ellis who has been described as “smart, chic, successful defense lawyer at a boutique firm who shockingly gets romantically involved with one of her clients, who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime”.
Executive producers for the show include Tony Phelan and Joan Rater. Heigl joining the cast will mark a reunion between the actress and the executive producers because of their work on Grey’s Anatomy.
Although Katherine Heigl did return to TV last season on State of Affairs, it was cancelled after one season.
CBS has not given up on the legal drama, but it did not pick up the original pilot. With the addition of Katherine Heigl and a script rework, we might end up seeing Katherine Heigl return to television once again.
