Disney+ and Marvel just announced the latest addition to the cast of season two of the hit series Loki. According to Deadline, Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones, The Northman) has joined the cast of the show in an unknown role.
Character details are being kept under wraps by Marvel but there are rumors, via Deadline, that Dickie will be playing a villain in the new season of Loki. The new season’s production has been completed, and the show’s second installment is set to premiere in the summer of 2023.
The show’s first season stars Tom Hiddleston (The Essex Serpent, Crimson Peak) as fan-favorite Norse god Loki; Sophia Di Martino (Flowers, The Electrical Life of Louis Wain) as the mysterious Sylvie; Owen Wilson (Marry Me, Wedding Crashers) as friendly time-agent Mobius; Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Surface, The Girl Before) as Ravonna, Mobius’ boss at the TVA; Eugene Cordero (Star Trek: Lower Decks, Central Park) who plays Casey, an office employee of the TVA who helps Loki; Tara Strong (Teen Titans Go!, The Powerpuff Girls) who voices Miss Minutes, the agency’s sort of mascot who also explains everything to the newcomers; Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country, Temple) as Hunter B-15, a field soldier for the TVA who has an encounter with Sylvie that helps the TVA; Richard E. Grant (Persuasion, Star Wars: Episode IX) as Classic Loki; Jack Veal (The End of the F***ing World, The Peripheral) as Kid Loki, Deobia Oparei (The Gray Man, Sex Education) as Boastful Loki; and Jonathan Majors (Lovecraft Country, Devotion) as He Who Remains, the man in charge of the TVA.
Some of the new cast members for season two include Rafael Casal (Blindspotting, The Good Lord Bird) who plays an unknown character, Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Head of the Class) in an unknown role, and the newly added Dickie.
Loki occurs sometime during the events leading up to Avengers: Endgame. During the time heist, Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr. (Dolittle, Sherlock Holmes), accidentally gives 2012 Loki, who just got arrested for his crimes in New York, the Tesseract, an Asgardian relic that allows the user to travel between different places. After stealing the Tesseract and escaping, Loki is caught by the TVA or better known as the Time Variance Authority for his crime of interfering with the timeline. As the series progresses, Loki becomes part of the investigation to catch another Loki variant that is causing trouble. This leads Loki and this new variant to discover who is behind the TVA and who is really in control of the timeline.
Season one of Loki is available on Disney+. All the Avengers movies are also available on Disney+.
