According to Deadline, Hollywood headliner Kate Beckinsale has signed on to the upcoming Amazon drama The Widow. The eight-episode piece will be written by Harry and Jack Williams (The Missing) with production beginning this month.
Co-produced by ITV, the series will be available through Prime Video in the United States and more than 200 countries and territories. “I’m delighted to announce Kate Beckinsale’s casting in The Widow,” stated Polly Hill, ITV’s Head of Drama, “She is perfect for the role of Georgia in what is, as always, brilliant, compelling and surprising storytelling from Harry and Jack Williams. We’re very pleased to have secured the series which is an ITV original commission and co-production with Amazon.”
The Widow features Georgia Wells who has drawn in on herself since the loss of her husband. She then sees her “deceased” spouse on the news and is forced to return to life looking for answers. With set locations including South Africa, Wales and Rotterdam, the roller-coaster thriller will put our heroine in the line of fire as she reveals more than she bargained for.
Beckinsale is not new to the Amazon Studios family. Last August she was feature in The Only Living Boy in New York and prior to that the comedy Love & Friendship. The Williams writing team are founders of Two Brothers with credits including BBC’s One of Us and ITV’s Liar.
