Karla Souza Walks Us Through the Shocking ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Finale

Spoiler alert for this Thursday’s How To Get Away With Murder!

As we’ve grown accustomed to, this week’s episode was a doozy. The season three season finale ended with a nail-biter: who actually killed Wes (Alfred Enoch)?

According to the episode, Laurel (Karla Souza)’s own father (Esai Morales), the cutthroat business man, was the person responsible for Wes’ tragic and painful death. But why would this be?

Variety had the opportunity to snag an interview with Souza, asking her the same questions that plague millions of viewers’ minds. Why would Laurel’s father do such a thing?

Souza was quoted as saying, “You see Laurel at Christmas dinner talking to her father about the law clinic she’s working at, so you can tell that after finding out what Frank does, I’m sure my dad was quickly able to figure out her involvement with Sam and the killing. So I’m sure her dad had a very good reason that we’ll find out, but of course Laurel doesn’t know that.”

And what exactly does Laurel know? She was prepared to shoot Charles Mahoney during the course of the episode because she believed he was responsible for Wes’ death–what would she do once she found out her own flesh and blood was behind it?

“I don’t know how she’s going to react,” Souza also said. “When she thinks it’s Charles Mahoney, it’s easy to react, but once she knows it’s her father, I don’t even know how that’s going to send her off — it might put her in the psych ward [laughing]. But I think Laurel is very strong and she’s definitely going to want to bring justice to the situation, especially because she has Wes’ baby inside of her. I think that’s a very strong motivation for her.”

And when prodded if Souza thought Laurel would be a little suspicious, given their family friend Dominic was close by, Souza replied, “No… I don’t think in that moment she thinks that. At that moment, she couldn’t even fathom the fact that this guy would be involved with my dad. I think he’s more of her friend than her dad’s, so that’s going to be a huge surprise and a huge blow to Laurel.”

The hits just keep on coming for Laurel. Even with this enlightening interview, the How To Get Away With Murder audience is clamoring for more. How will this affect her baby? What will happen to the Keating Four? And most importantly, when does next season start?
