According to Deadline, after appearing on two seasons of the Sex and the City sequel, And Just Like That…, actor Karen Pittman (The Americans, The Morning Show) is leaving the series. Pittman portrayed Nya Wallace in the series.
According to Deadline, Pittman is leaving the series due to scheduling conflicts between Apple TV+’s The Morning Show, Netflix’s Forever and And Just Like That… Per Deadline, all the projects have similar production schedules which makes it difficult for Pittman to participate in all of them.
According to Deadline, Pittman planned on returning to And Just Like That… with her character being written into the scripts, but doesn’t have the time for it.
Production for the series is expected to begin in May.
According to Deadline, spokesperson for Max said in a statement to Deadline, “It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of And Just Like That… As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn’t possible. Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of season 3 of And Just Like That… Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavors.”
Pittman’s character was created to be a new friend to Miranda (Cynthia Nixon (The Gilded Age, Ratched), Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker (Annie, Hocus Pocus) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis (Melrose Place, Deck the Halls). Her character was described as an unapologetic individual who didn’t care about what others thought of her. She’s a smart and loyal friend to the trio. Her character arc ended with her starting to date someone new following her recent divorce.
Pittman was recently in What We Do Next alongside Corey Stoll (House of Cards, Billions) and Michelle Veintimilla (The Gifted, Seven Seconds).
And Just Like That… is available to stream on Max.
