Netflix is getting its first medical procedural series. TVLine not only has announced the arrival of the new series titled Pulse, but it has also announced a new casting announcement that comes with it. Justina Machado (One Day At a Time) will be playing the starring role in the series.
The new Netflix series comes from Hawaii Five-O creator Zoe Robyn (The Equalizer). Pulse is a combination of medical series with the twists and turns that the mix with a rocky relationship and a major job promotion can bring to the table. The official logline for the series reads: “While the staff of Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center navigates medical emergencies, young ER doc Dani Simms is unexpectedly promoted to Chief Resident amidst the fallout of her own provocative romantic relationship.”
There has yet to be more information regarding production and premiere dates, but viewers do know a loose outline as to what they will be in store for. For one, they can get some brief outlines of who their favorite cast members will be playing. Machado will be playing the role of Natalie Cruz and is officially described as “a brilliant and politically-savvy doctor who oversees both administration and medicine in her role as the Chair of Surgery and Emergency Medicine.” according to TVLine. Prior to Pulse, Machado also starred in the Netflix reboot of the series One Day At A Time in the role of Nurse Penelope Alvarez.
The series will be produced by Kate Dennis (New Amsterdam) who will also be directing the first two episodes of the series. It will also be produced by Bradley Gardner (Heathers), Emma Forman (Locke & Key), and Michael Klick (Homeland).
While there is no set premiere date for Pulse, you can catch the medical series starring Justina Machado on Netflix soon!
