Justin Theroux Stars in Debut Trailer for Apple TV+ Series ‘The Mosquito Coast’

Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) stars as a man on the run with his family in the first trailer for the upcoming Apple TV+ original series, The Mosquito Coast. The thriller is set to premiere on the streamer April 30, via Indiewire

The Mosquito Coast is quite literally a family event as it is based on the 1981 novel of the same name written by Paul Theroux (The Great Railway Bazaar), Justin’s uncle. Telling the story of a father fleeing to Mexico and bringing his wife and two children along for the ride, it was also made into the 1986 film The Mosquito Coast starring Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones).

Theroux will now play Allie Fox, seen in the trailer as the patriarch and leader of the Fox family as they attempt to elude the U.S Government and other various dangers while on the run. In a virtual press event, Theroux discussed his long history with the source material. Indiewire picked up his statement: “I have a long history with the novel mainly because I read it as a kid…I obviously knew the character but I knew the novel version of him. This is Allie seen through a slightly different prism. As with any great character, I think you’ll see an evolution of this character in subsequent episodes.” Theroux also went on to say that his Uncle had seen episodes from the series and was pleased with the results.

Melissa George (Mulholland Drive) will portray mother and wife Margot Fox, Logan Polish (Margot) will play Dina, the eldest daughter who reluctantly goes on the run with her family, and Gabriel Bateman (Child’s Play) will play Charlie, the little brother who looks up to his father.

Neil Cross (Luther) serves as the series creator and showrunner. It’s executive produced by Justin Theroux,  Paul Theroux, Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Edward L. McDonnell (Sicario). Wyatt also directed episode one and two.

The first season will consist of seven episodes. The Mosquito Coast will premiere its first two episodes on Apple TV+ Friday, April 30. From there, new episodes will be released Weekly.
