Billions welcomes Julianna Margulies and Corey Stoll with open arms, as The Futon Critic has learned the two veteran actors will be joining the cast of the mega hit Showtime series, adding even more talent to a show that’s already brimming with it. Emmy and Golden Globe winners Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis have starred in one of Showtime’s most popular shows for its four seasons, putting the two Billions newcomers in good company. In the show’s fifth season, Margulies will be playing Catherine Brant, a best selling author and sociology professor who graduated from an Ivy League school, while Stoll will be shaking things up as Michael Prince, a business titan from a small Indiana town.
Margulies has many credits to her name in her long acting career, including her role in E.R which earned her an Emmy Award, and her role in The Good Wife that helped her bring home two Emmy Awards and gave her massive critical acclaim. Stoll has been featured in hit films such as Antman, Black Mass and Midnight In Paris, which earned him an Independent Spirit Awards nomination. His list of television credits include FX’s The Strain, with special guest appearances on HBO’s Girls and The Deuce. He also made an appearance on Homeland, another Showtime monster hit. Perhaps his best known role was as Peter Russo from Netflix’s House Of Cards, where he received a Golden Globe nomination.
Billions first premiered on January 17th, 2016, and was created by Brian Koppelman, David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin. The show follows Paul Giamatti’s character, Chuck Rhoades Jr, a US Attorney For The Southern District Of New York, and his battle of wits with Damien Lewis’s Robert Axelrod, a hedge fund manager. Its fifth season is currently being filmed in New York City, and will air on Showtime in Spring 2020.
