According to Deadline, Jerry Seinfeld hinted last week that he and co-creator Larry David were considering a Seinfeld reunion in order to tidy up the show ending. Both of which have had other works since the show’s end, such as Bee Movie and The Three stooges. However, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the actress who played Elaine in the show, denies knowing any of these rumors.
Deadline reported that Seinfeld told his audience at a stand up show last weekend “Something is going to happen that has to do with that ending. It hasn’t happened yet. Just what you are thinking about, Larry and I have also been thinking about. So, you’ll see.”
However, when Louis-Dreyfus was interviewed by The Guardian newspaper about her new movie Tuesday, she denied having any knowledge of this reunion.
This came as a surprise to many viewers considering she was a pivotal character in the show. However, Deadline also expanded on her and her career post Seinfeld, saying that she has been one of the busiest of the actors after the show ended with credits such as Veep, Enough Said, and You Hurt My Feelings. Her busy career could be a possible explanation for her not knowing any information on the continuation of the show.
In fact, Deadline says that when The Guardian newspaper asked about the reunion, Louis-Dreyfus said “I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about.”
That being said, however, fans are still anxiously anticipating the possible reunion. The series finale of Seinfeld had 76 million views when it aired in 1998, says Deadline. The end of the show saw the characters found guilty of criminal indifference. Many fans are hoping that a reunion would clean up loose ends and show the future of the characters.
Seinfeld ended with over nine seasons worth of episodes and became a record-breaking sitcom. This success rate and the words of the creators supports the idea of a reunion. However, the truth is unclear with Louis-Dreyfus claiming to be unaware of this news.
