Jon Stewart (The Problem with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report) isn’t done with The Daily Show yet. In new Deal with Comedy Central, Stewart has extended his run as one of the weekly hosts of the successful late-night show until 2028, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This extension conveniently, and perhaps intentionally, aligns with the 2028 presidential election timeline.
Just last year, Stewart signed a one-year deal with Comedy Central to extend his run through 2026. After stepping down from The Daily Show in 2015, he made his return in 2024, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He had aided the show in its growing viewership. Upon his return, the show reached its largest third-quarter viewership since 2018, with a total of one million viewers.
Skydance TV co-chair and chief content officer George Cheeks stated, according to The Hollywood Reporter, “Jon Stewart is a generational talent, and The Daily Show continues to be one of the most influential franchises on television and a cornerstone of Comedy Central.”
Stewart serves as a The Daily Show host once a week, typically on Mondays, and executive produces for the show alongside Jen Flanz (Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse: MAGA The Next Generation, Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse: Give the Man a Prize) and James “Baby Doll” Dixon (The Problem with Jon Stewart, Live in Front of the Studio Audience: ‘Facts of Life’ and ‘Diff’rent Strokes’).
Stewart is also the host of The Weekly Show, a podcast tied to The Daily Show. Other The Daily Show correspondents include Ronny Chieng (King of the Hill, Survival of the Thickest), Josh Johnson (The Comedy Lineup, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon), Jordan Klepper (Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse: MAGA The Next Generation, Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse: Give the Man a Prize), Michael Kosta (Pain Hustlers, Good Dad) and Desi Lydic (Awkward, We Bought a Zoo), who take turns hosting its Tuesday-through-Thursday episodes. Additionally, Troy Iwata (Dating the Devil, The Perfect Couple) and Grace Kuhlenschmidt Search Party, Hot White Heist) also host.
