John Krasinski continues to leave his mark on television. According to Variety, Krasinski just signed a three year deal with Amazon Studios. Krasinski will work for Amazon studios alongside his production banner, Sunday Night with partner Allyson Seeger and development and production executive Alexa Ginsburg. Krasinski and Sunday night were already under an overall deal with Amazon Studios and Paramount TV for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, which he stars in and executive produces.
Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, stated, “With his incredible authenticity and versatility, John Krasinski has brought to life some of entertainment’s most recognizable roles, including our own hero Jack Ryan. John’s talents extend behind the screen as a prolific writer, director and producer with a keen eye for creating original characters and stories with global appeal. We welcome John, Allyson, Alexa and the rest of the Sunday Night team to the family and can’t wait to see what they bring to our Amazon Prime Video customers all over the world.”
Salke was previously the president of NBC Entertainment before becoming the head of Amazon Studios. During her time at NBC, she worked with Krasinski as he was ending his work on The Office playing Jim Halpert, as well as producing the show alongside Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, and Rainn Wilson.
Krasinski and Seeger both stated, “Everyone at Sunday Night is very excited to continue our partnership with Amazon Studios.” Krasinski added, “Jen [Salke] has been a friend and collaborator since back in my Office days and her vision and expectation for what she wants Amazon Studios to become is exactly where we want to be.”
With this new deal the Sunday Night will be joining Amazon Studios sizable roster of hit shows and talent that include Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino’s Golden Globe and Emmy winning series Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with star Rachel Brosnahan, who also has TV development deal with Amazon studios. Other talent includes Jordan Peele’s new TV deal with Amazon, HBO’s Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonah Nolan, who left Warner Bros. TV, and Bloodline and Damages creators Gleen Kessler and Daniel Dae Kim.
Jack Ryan will be returning for a second season, and Krasinski is currently working on A Quiet Place: Part II. He directed, starred in, and co-wrote the first film A Quiet Place, and the sequel is expected to hit theaters in March of 2020.
