Director and composer John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing) announces his return to writing and directing with a new television series, Suburban Screams. His last time directing a larger work was The Ward in 2010. In 2017, he spent some time directing various music videos. Recently, he has worked with his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies on the score for the Halloween trilogy by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Stronger).
Carpenter specializes in horror works, and his new series will be a part of that same genre.
According to The Prague Reporter, Carpenter spoke about the new series at the Texas Frightmare Weekend in Irving, Texas. As The Prague Reporter explained, Carpenter told the audience during a panel, “I just finished directing, remotely, a TV series called Suburban Screams – John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams.”
Carpenter continued, “It was filmed in Prague, and I sat on my couch and directed it. It was awesome.”
Besides these statements made by Carpenter himself, there is little information known about the series and what it entails. One piece of information that is known is that the series was submitted by Milk and Honey Pictures and registered with the Czech Film Fund. Milk and Honey Pictures is a production company that has worked on Haunted on Netflix, Foundation on Apple TV+, Patriot on Amazon Prime, and more.
As described in IndieWire, Carpenter also revealed another Lost Themes studio album. His first Lost Themes album, released by Sacred Bones Records, was created alongside his son and grandson in 2015. He also teased a second The Thing during the Texas Frightmare Weekend.
Carpenter stated, “I have been sworn to secrecy, OK, because there may be, I don’t know if there will be, there may be a Thing 2.”
With the news of the horror series Suburban Screams on the horizon, audiences can look forward to seeing John Carpenter’s work once again.
