John Aniston, known for his long-running role as Victor Kiriakis on popular soap opera Days of Our Lives, died Nov. 11 at age 89, via Deadline. A cause of death has not been released.
Aniston and his family moved to the United States from Greece when he was just two years old, and graduated years later from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts, according to Deadline. After serving in the Navy, Aniston began his acting career in a small part on the series New Man in the Precinct in 1962, and appeared regularly in soap operas in 1970, via Deadline. Soap operas included Days of Our Lives as Victor Kiriakis, Love of Life as Eddie Aleata, and Search for Tomorrow as Martin Tourneur.

His longest running role was on Days of Our Lives, a series he acted in from 1970 to 2022. He was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 2017 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his performance, and received a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award at the 49th Annual Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards on June 18, according to Deadline.
Aniston is also known for being the father of actress Jennifer Aniston (Friends, We’re The Millers, Just Go With It), as well as his son Alexander Aniston and husband to Sherry Rooney, via Deadline. Jennifer Aniston took to Instagram to share a message to her late father. Her post reads “You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain. And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now. I’ll love you till the end of time.”
