Yellowjackets season three is set to start filming soon, and the Emmy-nominated series reveals that Joel McHale (Community, Animal Control) is set to guest star this season. There are currently no details about his role, and all details around the production are being kept under lock and key according to Deadline.
Yellowjackets follows a champion girls’ soccer team from New Jersey after a plane crash, leaving them stranded in the Canadian wilderness, both a gripping tale of survival and a coming-of-age story. The girls realize they may not be alone in the wilderness, with paranormal threats looming within the woods. As the show flashes forward in time, slowly revealing surviving members of the crash, it unravels what truly happened in the wilderness and flashes back to their life before the crash and how this affects them 25 years later.
*SPOILER ALERT* In the show’s second season, they also welcomed Elijah Wood (Lord of The Rings Trilogy) in a recurring role as Walter, an odd man connecting with Misty over their love of conspiracy theories, ultimately joining up with the rest of the Yellow Jackets as they try to find Lottie. In addition to Woods, Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) joined as the adult version of the Yellow Jacket’s goalkeeper, Van, and Simone Kessel (Obi-Wan Kenobi) as the adult version of Lottie.
McHale is best known for his work as cocky ex-lawyer Jeff Winger in the series Community, which is set to have a film installment soon, as well as has more recent roles in Animal Control. In a switch from his typical comedic roles, he is also a recurring guest star on Hulu’s The Bear as one of Carmy’s abusive past mentors. McHale is also known for his comedy work and is an executive producer on his sitcom Animal Control.
With McHale as the newest addition to the Emmy-nominated series cast, anticipation only grows for the third season.
