Joe Locke (Heartstopper, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street), star of Marvel’s Agatha All Along, will portray a mysterious role in the new Disney+ series. In an interview with Empire, Locke shared some new information about this character, Deadline reports.
According to Deadline, the actor explained that his character was secret while filming the series, and the role was known in the script as “Teen.”
“He’s a familiar; he’s like the assistant to the coven,” Locke shared via Deadline.
Locke continued, via Deadline, by stating, “Teen is a big fan of witchcraft and witches, so for him to be taken under Agatha Harkness’ wing and form a coven and go down the Witches’ Road is his dream. He’s fanboy-esque, and in his element. Which is very fun — because I was [too]!”
In the same interview, showrunner of the upcoming Marvel series, Jac Schaeffer (Black Widow, Timer), has also shared his thoughts on Locke’s character via Deadline by saying that “this mysterious goth teen shows up in [Agatha’s] life,” adding, “It’s his idea to travel the Witches’ Road to get her power back. But in order to go on the Road, you’ve got to get a coven together. So how does a witch that no-one’s going to trust get a band of sisters together?”
According to Deadline, Locke also shared more information. He said that Schaeffer was the one who sent a photo of Witches’ Road to the head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige (Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home), to which Feige replied, “Oh my God, we’re making The Goonies.”
“That’s what I’d been saying — that we were making this adventure series,” Locke added via Deadline.
According to Deadline, the Marvel series’ main stars include Kathryn Hahn (Wandavision, Bad Moms) as the lead character of Agatha Harkness, Aubrey Plaza (Criminal Minds, The White Lotus) as the character of Rio, Patti LuPone (Company, Life Goes On) portraying the role of Lilia, Locke, Sasheer Zamata (Spree, Woke) in the role of Jen K and Ali Ahn (The Diplomat, Anya) in the role of Alice. Other featured stars include Emma Caulfield Ford (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Wandavision), Maria Dizzia (School Spirits, Orange Is the New Black), Miles Gutierrez-Riley (Smile Two, The Wilds) and Okwui Okpokwasili (The Hoax, The Interpreter).
