According to Variety, Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen And Smith, Ann Boleyn) has joined the cast of the new Paramount+ with Showtime series The Agency. She will star alongside Michael Fassbender (Band Of Brothers, Hex), Richard Gere (Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride) and Jeffery Wright (Westworld, American Fiction).
“Jodie Turner-Smith is a force who captivates audiences with her raw, emotional power,” said Nina L. Diaz, president of content and chief creative officer for Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios & Paramount Media Networks, Variety reports. “We are thrilled she is joining our extraordinary cast alongside Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere.”
The series adaptation is based on the French television series Le Bureau des Legendes. The official description states that the series “follows Martian a covert CIA agent, ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.”
Le Bureau des Legendes was created by Eric Rochant (Mafiosa, Mobius). The series has received generally positive reviews, with the second, third and fourth seasons receiving critical acclaim. The series holds a 93 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Turner-Smith is set to play Sami Zahir, who is a social anthropology professor with a history with Martian.
Turner-Smith’s first major film role was in 2016’s The Neon Demon. Since then, she has had roles like Beverly in Lemon, Angela “Queen” Johnson in Queen And Smith, Karen Greer in Without Remorse, Kyra in After Yang, Winnie Richards in White Noise, Elisha “Eli” James in The Independent, Angel in Mad Dogs, Sgt. Azima Kandie in The Last Ship, Melantha Jhirl in Nightflyers, Josie in Jett, Anne Boleyn in Anne Boleyn and Mother Aniseya in The Acolyte.
