The most recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! was delayed because of what the host called a “personal matter.” According to Deadline, not much elaboration was given as to what the personal matters were, but disappointed fans who planned to attend the recording at the El Capitan Theatre received an email with a promise of tickets to a future taping.
Deadline reports that the episode was expected to feature David Duchovny, star of The X-Files and the upcoming Prime Video series, Malice, Stranger Things actor Joe Keery, and Madison Beer, with a musical number. Beer made a post on social media with a clarifying statement. “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jimmy Kimmel Live needed to reschedule my performance that was originally set to air tonight to a later date. I’ll share more details on timing when I can. I can’t wait for you all to see it.” ABC released a previously recorded episode from October 28th in place of the episode that was supposed to air.
The event is out of character for Kimmel, as it is for other late-night hosts, Deadline states. But, from time to time, there are personal issues that need to be tended to. The situation is not foreign to the average person. Whether the scheduled guests will return for the rescheduled episode or not remains unanswered. Neither Duchovny nor Keery has come out with a statement regarding the matter.
According to USA Today, the postponed episode was the first since the show came back from its suspension in September. The suspension was due to the comments Kimmel made about Charlie Kirk and the nature of his passing away. The suspension lasted for six days and brought criticism from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chair, Brendan Carr. Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcasting Group announced they would not air the show shortly after the incident took place.
