Instead of the regularly scheduled musical performances, the late night talk show will bring together two musicians for a special mash-up gig.
According to Rolling Stone, “Mash Up Mondays” on Jimmy Kimmel Live will begin on February 2nd with Weezer and ZZ Top, or as host Jimmy Kimmel re-dubbed them in a press release, “Wee-Z Top”.
Kimmel is known for airing unique and original musical bits on his show such as Meghan Trainor’s awkward Thanksgiving Carols such as “Grandma’s a Racist (Pass the Yams)” Or Josh Groban’s melodic vocal performance of Kanye West’s tweets. These all coming after the infamous and hysterical performance of “I’m F***king Matt Damon” from Kimmel’s ex Sarah Silverman and his retort, “I’m F**king Ben Affleck.” Kimmel also hosts a number of reputable performances on his show, and in the street outside his studio with artists such as Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake.
Mash Up Mondays on Jimmy Kimmel Live will continue throughout february. February 9th will host Haim and funk legends Morris Day and the Time as “Morris Day and the Haim”. On February 16th, rising soul star Aloe Blacc will join up with Nineties new jack swing heroes Blackstreet as “Aloe Blaccstreet.” Audiences will have to wait for news of what pairing will close out the series on February 23rd.
