Jimmy Kimmel Live! is continuing its summertime host tradition. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the guests have officially been announced. The regular host of the ABC late-night show Jimmy Kimmel will take his summer break, while hosts such as Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine, The Greatest Showman), Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park), Martin Short (Only Murders In The Building) and RuPaul (RuPaul’s Drag Race) will take his spot for a bit.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this upcoming week of June 24 will kick off the summer host season. It begins with Short stepping in as host, who is also promoting his newest season of Only Murders In The Building which will have a new season upcoming soon. He will share the screen to interview fellow actors such as his Only Murders co-stars Steve Martin (Cheaper By The Dozen) and Selena Gomez (Wizards Of Waverly Place). He will also have others on the show such as Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids), Sienna Miller (American Sniper), Imagine Dragons, and Beck.
The official lineup of hosts to follow Short are as follows. As mentioned above viewers will be able to see Short, Reynolds, Jackman, Goldblum, and RuPaul, but also on that list of hosts are actors Anthony Anderson (black-ish), Kathryn Hahn (WandaVision), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) and Lamorne Morris (New Girl). The official schedule and order that the hosts will appear in will be revealed as the summer continues.
The summer hiatus for Kimmel dates back to the year 2020 when he announced that he would be taking a break in the summer in order to have some family time. He said upon his hiatus that he took the break after 18 seasons to “spend even more time with [his] family.” After he took his break and returned on air, he noted how nice it was to be able to tuck his son into bed at night. My son makes me lie next to his bed on the floor, and I fall asleep there almost every single night.” THR also reported that the break made him more comfortable with the thought of retiring one day.
The summer session of Jimmy Kimmel Live! begins this upcoming June 24 starring Martin Short as host.
