Some of the highest grossing late-night talk show hosts have joined forces in order to put on a live show in Las Vegas as a part of a ‘strike force’ team up, according to Deadline. Jimmy Fallon (The Tonight Show, Saturday Night Live), Jimmy Kimmel (Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Boss Baby) and Stephen Colbert (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Colbert Report) are planning a major Las Vegas extravaganza.
This live show is set to also put some money in the pockets of late-night show staffs. The live show is set to take place on September 23, 2023 and will take place at Dolby Live at Park MGM. The official name of the extravaganza is titled Strike Force Three. The title is a nod to the podcast hosted by the three hosts formerly mentioned and also John Oliver (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Community) and Seth Meyers (Late Night with Seth Meyers, Saturday Night Live). The name of the podcast is Strike Force Five.
Strike Force Five is in its fourth episode of the podcast and Deadline states that the topics of conversation thus far have included, “Kimmel talk[ing] about potentially retiring, a failed vasectomy and how Batman threatened to murder him.” Okay, Kimmel, that’s eventful! Colbert also talks on how his mother was once romantically involved with a dictator and all of his best award screw-ups!
Due to Oliver and Meyers on the road doing their own stand-up comedy shows, they will not be appearing at Strike Force Three in Las Vegas, hence the “five” in strike force becoming “three.”
According to Deadline, Oliver joked saying that he’s “not allowed back in Vegas until I’m cleared of all charges.” Meyers added to the joke saying that he “will be in Vegas but unable to attend as I gotta play my slots.”
This show is the first time that Fallon, Colbert and Kimmel will all being performing on stage together. It’s important to note that all the proceeds from the show are going to out-of-work staff personnel of late-night shows. Tickets will be going on sale on Friday, September 15.
