According to a recent image Jessica Capshaw (The Private Pratice, White Chicks) posted from her upcoming guest spot, she is officially back in the Grey’s Anatomy operating room. Capshaw will be reprising her role as Arizona Robbins, a former Pediatric/Fetal surgeon. Capshaw departed the show during season fourteen where her character moves to New York in order to make everything easier between her daughter Sofia, played by Eva Ariel Binder, (All Fun and Games, Brand New Cherry Flavor) and ex-wife Callie, played by Sara Ramirez (And Just Like That, Madam Secretary, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).
The actress posted a selfie dressed as Dr. Arizona
According to TVLine, longtime viewers of Grey’s Anatomy will enjoy Hilarie Burton’s (One Tree Hill, The Walking Dead, Lethal Weapon) witty remark on the picture: “Girl. Meet you in the break room!” As Dr. Lauren Boswell, a craniofacial surgeon with whom Capshaw’s character had a one-night affair, Burton had previously made appearances in three season nine episodes.
TVLine reports that Capshaw’s comeback as Arizona was first revealed on February 10, which is almost six years after she left the medical drama at the conclusion of season 14. Season 20 will also see Alex Landi (Station 19, Insatiable, Walker) return to the role of Nico Kim, Schmitt’s ex-boyfriend.
The upcoming episodes will feature Natalie Morales (Dead to Me, No Hard Feelings, Self Reliance) as pediatric surgeon Monica Beltran and Freddy Miyares (DMZ, When They See Us, The L World: Generation Q) as Grey Sloan patient Dorian in addition to Capshaw and Landi.
Thursday, March 14, at 9/8c, marks the return of Grey’s Anatomy for season 20 on ABC.
