According to Deadline, Jessica Capshaw (Grey’s Anatomy, Dear Zoe) has officially joined the cast of 9-1-1: Nashville, the newest installment in Ryan Murphy’s expansive 9-1-1 franchise. The Grey’s Anatomy alum will star opposite Chris O’Donnell (NCIS: Los Angeles, Batman & Robin) in the upcoming ABC drama, which was given a straight-to-series order earlier this year.
Deadline reports that Capshaw will play the wife of O’Donnell’s character, Captain Don Sharpe, a rugged firehouse leader and former rodeo star,and the mother of the show’s lead, a character named Ryan who has not yet been cast.Captain Sharpe is described as a rugged fire captain and rodeo star who oversees Nashville’s busiest firehouse with his son by his side. While he’s presented as a devoted family man, the character is also said to harbor secrets that will likely play into the show’s core dramatic storyline.
9-1-1: Nashville is being developed by 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television, and is set to premiere during the 2025-26 season on ABC. The series comes from Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story, Glee) and longtime collaborators Tim Minear (9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star) and Rashad Raisani (9-1-1: Lone Star, Burn Notice), with Brad Falchuk (American Horror Story, Pose) and Angela Bassett (9-1-1, Black Panther) also on board as executive producers.
Deadline states that the spin-off joins the flagship 9-1-1 series, which made the move from Fox to ABC in 2023. It also follows the cancellation of 9-1-1: Lone Star, which ended after five seasons earlier this year.
