According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeremy Irons (The Lion King, Die Hard With A Vengeance) will join Apple TV+’s The Morning Show. This role will be the actor’s latest TV role since Netflix’s 2022 series The Pentaverate.
Irons will join fellow newcomer Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises, La Vie En Rose) for the show’s fourth season.
Irons is set to play Martin Levy, father of Jennifer Aniston’s (Just Go With It, Friends) Alex Levy. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the show’s fourth season will take place two years after the cliffhanger ending of the show’s last season, where TV anchor Bradley, played by Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies, Cruel Intentions), was arrested by the FBI.
“We re-enter the world mid-chaos,” Aniston, who also works as an executive producer for the series, told The Hollywood Reporter after the end of the third season. “Because [Alex is] jumping into something that has never existed. She’s a bit of a pioneer, and she is kind of left alone on a buoy.”
Billy Crudup (Watchmen, Almost Famous), Néstor Carbonell (The Image Of You, Suddenly Susan), Mark Duplass (The League, The Lazarus Effect), Karen Pittman (And Just Like That, What We Do Next), Jon Hamm (Mad Men, Top Gun: Maverick), Greta Lee (Russian Doll, Past Lives) and Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow, Miss Juneteenth) also star.
The Morning Show follows a popular news program in Manhattan. Suddenly, one of the show’s co-anchors, Mitch Kessler, played by Steve Carrell (The Office, Despicable Me), gets fired as a result of a sexual misconduct scandal. Fellow news anchor Alex Levy struggles to maintain her position as new co-host Bradley Jackson makes a series of impulsive decisions and threatens the continued existence of the show.
The show touches on a series of current events, including the #MeToo movement, The COVID-19 pandemic, the capital insurrection, racial inequality, and the war in Ukraine.
