Soldier Boy will be back, at least for a short cameo. According to Entertainment Weekly, Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, Big Sky), who plays Soldier Boy, revealed that he filmed cameo for The Boys spinoff Gen V. Ackles also revealed that he is not the only character from the original show to make cameo in the new show and that fans should expect to see some familiar faces in Gen V.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Ackles made the revelation during Supernatural convention in New Orleans where he reunited with his co-star Jared Padalecki (Supernatural, Walker). Ackles also revealed that The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke (Timeless, Revolution), who created Supernatural and executive-produced Gen V, was on the set of the show when he was filming his cameo. He said that his cameo had been improvised and that “He and I were just, like, we were spitballing ideas and workshopping literally in between takes and coming up with a whole variety of takes.”
Gen V, which premieres later this year, will expand the world of The Boys and Supes by focusing on Godolkin University, the only higher education institution in the United States that focuses its attention on shaping the minds of the young supes. The spinoff is described as a mix of college drama and the Hunger Games. The show will have the college-age supes training their abilities and competing with each other to get the best contracts to police and protect the biggest cities, while also navigating the usual college drama.
Some familiar faces that will have guest roles in the spinoff include A Train, played by Jessie T. Usher (Smile, Independence Day: Resurgence); Vought’s PR master Ashley Barrett, played by Colby Minifie (Lemons, Homebody); and Vought’s in-house filmmaker Adam Bourke, played by P.J. Byrne (Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Babylon).
The cast of Gen V includes Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Slender Man) who plays Marie, who appeared briefly in season three of The Boys; Chance Perdomo (After Ever Happy, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina); Lizze Broadway (The Inhabitant, Instakiller); Shelly Conn (Bridgerton, Good Omens); Maddie Phillips (Four Walls, Teenage Bounty Hunters); London Thor (Shameless, The Rolling Soldier); Derek Luh (Shining Vale, Runaways); newcomer Asa Germann; Patrick Schwarzenegger (The Staircase, Moxie); Sean Patrick Thomas (Till, Reasonable Doubt); Marco Pigossi (Invisible City, The Last Chance); Clancy Brown (John Wick: Chapter 4, Scrambled); Alexander Calvert (Supernatural, Good Boys); and Jason Ritter (Raising Dion, A Million Little Things). No character names or details have been revealed by Prime Video.
Gen V will premiere on Prime Video sometime in 2023. All seasons of The Boys are available on Prime Video. All fifteen seasons of Supernatural are available to stream on Netflix. Don’t forget to watch the trailer for Gen V below.
