Jennifer Garner, the award winning actress has signed on to voice Mama Llama in Netflix’s upcoming original animated preschool series, Deadline reports.
Netflix announced the news on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association press tour. The children’s show is titled Llama Llama and is based on the best-selling book series by Anna Dewdney. The series will follow the adventures of a young llama as he learns and grows alongside his best friends. He’ll also have his mother [Garner’s character] and they have a close and loving bond.
Garner shared her excitement of her upcoming role as Mama Llama by saying “I’ve read Anna Dewdney’s Llama Llama books to my kids hundreds of times in the last 10 years, Little did I know it would all count as rehearsal — I’m thrilled to bring Mama Llama to life for Netflix! The Llama Llama books are so fun to read, your kids won’t even notice they are learning life lessons, such as how to battle boredom, or braving the first day of school. But when your kids watch the coziness of Mama Llama’s relationship with her Little Llama, be ready for an extra snuggle as you connect, while learning about the world around you.”
The creative team behind the Llama Llama series includes directors Rob Minkoff (The Lion King) and Saul Blinkoff (Doc McStuffins), showrunner Joe Purdy (Hey Arnold!), art director Ruben Aquino (Frozen), and producers Jane Startz (The Magic School Bus) and Andy Heyward (Captain Planet and the Planeteers).
Llama Llama will debut sometime in 2017.
