Jennifer Beals Lands Leading Role In New TNT Show

According to Deadline, the actress is set to star in Proof, the new TNT medical drama pilot.

The fifty-year-old actress will be Kathryn Russo, “a skeptical, hard-science, brilliant female surgeon with a caustic edge” who is troubled because she lost a son and his only daughter has grown estranged from her.

Dr. Russo’s cases are always related to out-of-body, almost supernatural experiences, with reincarnation and hauntings thrown in the mix sometimes, all to find out if death is really the end of everything.

Kyra Sedgwick will executive produce the new potential series, alongside Jill Littman, Tom Jacobson, Rob Bragin and Alex Graves. The latter will also direct the show, while Bragin will also pen the script.

This is the third drama that TNT has acquired for next season. The other two are Guilt By Association, in which Julia Stiles will take the lead, and also Agent X, which will star Sharon Stone.

Jennifer Beals is best known for her role as Bette Porter in The L Word, but her CV is vast, with credits such as Lie To Me, The Chicago Code and, more recently, The Mob Doctor and Lauren.
