Jennifer Aniston (Friends, Switched), star and executive producer of The Morning Show, told Deadline that the show will continue with a more emotional fourth season. Aniston mentions that wearing lots of hats on a hit show “takes a lot out of you,” as she is involved in almost every aspect of the series. She also mentions that she has such an incredible support system, including her co-star Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde).
The Morning Show is a drama about a fictional news network, UBA. With many storylines that involve a full range of emotions, The Morning Show shows no signs of slowing down. With complicated story lines and new cast members, Aniston told People, “It is layered, it’s complicated, it’s emotional, it hits on a lot of topics and current events, so let’s just say, it’s not Friends.”
According to Deadline, some of the new cast members include, Marion Cotillard (Sausage Party: Foodtopia, The Ice Tower) and Aaron Pierre (The Underground Railroad, Genius) as well as returning stars Billy Crudup (Almost Famous, The Good Shephard), Mark Duplass (The Creep Tapes, Blue Film), Nestor Carbonell (The Dark Knight, Lost), Karen Pittman (Yellowstone, What We Do Next) and Greta Lee (Past Lives, St. Vincent).
Deadline mentions that season three ended with the merger between UBA and rival network YDA, along with romance between billionaire Paul Sparks and Aniston’s Alex.
Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt (Homeland, Dinner Party) told Deadline, “We blew everything up last year with the biggest bomb we could possibly build, so we have to ask ourselves how is the band going to get back together, and what will that look like? We get into the world of deepfakes and AI and the misinformation in the fog of war that we’re seeing now in the Middle East and stuff. We’re looking at who can trust. And can you trust you’re seeing? Can you trust yourself? Can you trust your news outlet?”
The fourth season of The Morning Show will stream on Apple TV on September 17.
