AMC announced Wednesday that Jenna Elfman will join the cast of Fear the Walking Dead as a series regular in its upcoming fourth season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, details of Elfman’s new role have not been provided.
The Dharma & Greg alum will be appearing alongside fellow newcomer Garret Dillahunt (The Mindy Project), whose casting was announced on Tuesday. Elfman confirmed the news on Twitter and Instagram saying, “So honored to be part of this,” while posting an image promoting the crossover event between Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead.
Season 4 of Fear the Walking Dead marks the departure of showrunner Dave Erickson. Andrew Chambliss (The Vampire Diaries) and Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time) will fill in alongside The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple as executive producer. Along with Chambliss, Goldberg, and Gimple, the series is also executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, and David Alpert.
THR further noted that the location of the production of the series has moved to Texas. With the upcoming crossover with the flagship series The Walking Dead that is set for next year, many are speculating of a possible return of Michael Cudlitz’s character Abraham.
The addition of Elfman and Dillahunt comes at a time when the cast needs some refreshing after a few of the characters met their demise in the last season. Elfman is best known for her Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe-winning role in Dharma & Greg. She also recently starred in ABC’s Imaginary Mary, CBS’s Accidentally on Purpose, and NBC’s 1600 Penn.
Fear the Walking Dead is set to return in 2018.
