There is a new addition to the cast of the upcoming season of The Last of Us. According to Deadline, actor Jeffery Wright (American Fiction, Westworld) has been cast in the role of Isaac in the critically acclaimed series. The actor also was the voice of the same character in the video game that the series is based on, which shares the same title.
Wright has been cast as the character Isaac. According to Deadline, the character is described as a powerful leader, who, while quiet, remains a part of a massive militia group. The group in question is known in the original video game as the Washington Liberation Front. The WLF attempted to seek out liberty and freedom but instead became engulfed in a war against an enemy that morphed into something surprisingly resourceful.
This is not the first time an original voice actor from the video game has joined the cast. In season one voice actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson were given roles in the live-action series, but they did not reprise their voice roles. Wright is the second cast member to reprise his original voice role, alongside Merle Dandridge.
The second season of The Last Of Us will also have actors Bella Ramsey (The Worst Witch, Game of Thrones) and Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) reprising their roles as Joel and Ellie from season one. In addition to Wright, the new cast member lineup includes Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate), Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart, No One Will Save You), Young Manzino (Beef, Trinity’s Triumph), Isabela Merced (Madame Web, 100 Things To Do Before High School) and Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek, Home Alone).
The second season of The Last of Us is currently in production and is expected to arrive on HBO in 2025. It comes from the creators Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Neil Druckman (Chernobyl).
