Jared Padalecki Will Guest Star on CBS’ ‘Fire Country’ And His Character’s Storyline Could Lead To A Possible New Franchise Spinoff Series

Jared Padalecki (Supernatural, Gilmore Girls) is back on TV and will guest star on a three-episode arc for the upcoming third season of CBS’ Fire Country after he ended his role as the main lead in the Walker, Deadline exclusively reports.

According to Deadline, Padalecki will portray the role of Camden, who is a SoCal firefighter and a great surfist. Camden is a strong man who will recognize the talent of the main lead, Bode, portrayed by Max Theriot (SEAL Team, Bates Motel), who is also one of the series’ executive producers.

Sources shared with Deadline that Padalecki would have a chance to change this guest role into a recurring role. Because of his current fame status, CBS Studios would want him to be in a spinoff of Fire Country dedicated only to his character, Camden.

To be more precise, sources shared with Deadline that the idea is still in development, but it’s not confirmed. For now, representatives who work for CBS and CBS Studios have declined any request to comment on this idea.

Fire Country has been one of the most popular CBS series on the channel lately. It has earned the title of most watched new broadcast series. According to Deadline, this gave CBS the idea to lead potential spinoffs. In an interview with the same news outlet in June 2023, CBS President and CEO George Cheeks shared his thoughts on the popularity of the series.

“We are focused on mass-appeal franchises,” Cheeks explained via Deadline. “This season’s number one show was Fire Country, which completely lends itself to building out a whole new universe… It became very clear that not only was the show special, it really felt like this could be a great example of us building together a franchise from scratch.”

According to Deadline, the series focuses on the character of Bode Donovan, portrayed by Thieriot. Bode is a young convict who decides to join the prison release firefighting program in North Carolina to reduce his jail sentence, which causes him to return to his hometown.

The third season of Fire Country will return on Oct.18 on CBS.
