A new game show will be premiering on Disney+ sometime in 2020, and it will be based on the Star Wars franchise. Deadline has reported that Jedi Temple Challenge will be a show featuring and aimed at kids, and will also be hosted by Ahmed Best who is most known for providing the voice for Jar Jar Binks. Though what the exact premise, challenges or prizes that will be facing potential contestants for this show hasn’t been officially reported, Disney execs stated the show, “tests young contestants’ abilities in the core Jedi principles of strength, knowledge, and bravery as they face thrilling and fun obstacles.”
The news couldn’t have been announced at a more appropriate time as Disney has been putting all their chips in on their Star Wars Brand during the quarter half of 2019. The Mandalorian has been making internet breaking headlines every week since its debut for one reason or another, and has proven to be one of Disney+’s main attractions. Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker has been gearing up its campaign to promote the last episode in Disney’s new trilogy, set to come to its conclusion on December 20th, 2019. It was reported that Ewan Mcgregor might be reprising his role as Obi Wan Kenobi in a potential new series for Disney+, and not too long ago it was announced that Kevin Feige will be heavily involved in the next batch of Star Wars films, with the mouse hoping that Feige will be able to add some of his Marvel magic to the franchise.
Star Wars has already succeeded in cinema, in animated series such as Star Wars The Clone Wars and Rebels, and with the recent hit The Mandalorian they’ve done well with live action TV shows as well. Now with Jedi Temple Challenge it seems that Star Wars is looking to conquer the world of game shows next while also diversifying its Disney+ content.
