Joshua Jackson is making his return to television with Showtime’s upcoming pilot The Affair.
Jackson’s role is that of Cole, a “hard-edged cowboy” who owns a ranch on Long Island that has been passed down through his family for generations.
The series also stars Ruth Wilson as Allison (Cole’s wife), who begins an affair with the married Noah (Dominic West). Maura Tierney plays Helen, “Noah’s college sweetheart, best friend, mother of his children…and wife of 17 years,” who is shaken by news of her husband’s infidelity (via the Hollywood Reporter).
The Affair will explore the impact of Allison and Noah’s relationship on their respective families, particularly the ways in which it influences their spouses. Both couples will experience difficulties as they attempt to deal with the situation.
This casting news marks Joshua Jackson’s first television role since Fringe ended its five-season run earlier this year.
The Affair will be produced by the team behind HBO’s In Treatment, Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi.
