According to a Deadline article, a new star is on the rise. Jack Patten (War Machine) from Sydney, Australia, just landed his second lead role in a Hollywood series. From there, he was suggested for the role of Robin Hood in the upcoming TV series of the same name. According to Deadline, the star graduated from The National Institute of Dramatic Arts in 2023 and has made an impression on those who’ve seen him on screen.
Deadline states he was once a “football prodigy who turned to acting after his budding professional sports career was ended by a knee injury.” Audiences soon will see Patten in more of a heartthrob role. John Glenn (Hidden Figures, The Right Stuff), the showrunner for Lionsgate TV, says that “Robin Hood is described as a sweeping, romantic adventure, a modern take of the classic tale that brings historical authenticity, psychological depth, and a heightened focus on the relationship between Rob and Marian.”
The show tells the story of two people from different worlds coming together to fight for change. Patten was also praised by Micheal Wright (Before I Self Destruct, Light and The Sufferer), head of MGM+. According to Deadline, Wright said, “We knew immediately when we saw him that he was our ideal Robin and uniquely able to bring to life this iconic character. Jack brings unique charisma and heart to this new iteration of the classic romantic adventure of a rogue outlaw who steals from the rich to care for the poor and finds his soul mate in the equally powerful Marian.” It is unclear who will be cast as Marian, but whoever it is will be just as good as Patten. There is no official date for when the show will air, but fans and audiences should be on the lookout in the coming months.
