The Emmy-nominated springtime special It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown and Charlie Brown All Stars will air a one-hour special on Sunday, April 20 on ABC.
It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown centers on the upcoming holiday and the Peanuts gang getting ready for the big day. Charlie, Sally, Lucy and Marci have several unsuccessful attempts at preparing eggs for coloring. Linus is not worried because he doesn’t think preparation is necessary. The gang is saved when the Easter Beagle steps in to take care of everything.
Charlie Brown All Stars focuses on Charlie Brown’s team walking out on him after they lose their 999th game in a row. Their hope is resurrected when they receive an offer for a team sponsor and the chance to play in a real league with real uniforms. Things go array and Charlie Brown does everything in his power to help his team win.
It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown is voiced by Todd Barbee as Charlie Brown, Melanie Kohn as Lucy, Stephen Shea as Linus, Linda Ercoli as Peppermint Patty, Lynn Mortensen as Sally and James Ahrens as Marcie.
Charlie Brown All Stars is voiced by Peter Robbins as Charlie Brown, Sally Dryer as Lucy, Chris Shea as Linus, Anne Altieri as Frieda, Kip DeFaria as Shermy and the umpire, Glenn Mendelson as Schroeder, Karen Mendelson as Violet, Jeff Ornstein as Pigpen, Cathy Steinberg as Sally and Lynn Vanderlip as Patty.
Charles M. Schulz created and wrote the special. Both specials were executive produced by Lee Mendelson. Phil Roman directed It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown and the music was composed and performed by Vince Guaraldi. Bill Melendez directed Charlie Brown All Stars and the original score was composed and conducted by Vince Guaraldi.
The Peanuts gang has appeared in various specials, comics, on stage, and hundreds of books. The library of Peanuts animations has received 5 Emmy and 2 Peabody awards, 1 Academy Award nomination, 3 Grammy nominations and 15 additional Emmy nominations.
