The Disney+ series, which is based on author Rick Riordan’s original fantasy series, gained notoriety with its first season. According to ScreenRant, it earned a 91% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it became one of Disney+’s most-watched original shows. Soon after its success, the second season of the series was officially announced only weeks after the finale of the first season.
ScreenRant writes that the second season, which aims to adapt the novel The Sea of Monsters, was announced to premiere on December 10 at San Diego Comic-Con. The second novel sees demigod Percy and his friends being tasked to retrieve the legendary Golden Fleece in order to save their beloved Camp Half-Blood from being destroyed, as the fleece will restore a dimming protection spell cast on the camp.
After the second season’s premiere date was unveiled, it was also announced that the third season was greenlit to adapt the third novel in the series, The Titan’s Curse, ScreenRant writes. In fact, the set photo released on Instagram may tease a notable location in The Titan’s Curse: Westover Hall. This boarding school appears in the opening of the novel, where Percy, Annabeth and Thalia must rescue demigod siblings Nico and Bianca di Angelo. The siblings were announced at Comic-Con to be played by rising actors Levi Chrisopulos (FBI) and Olive Abercrombie (The Haunting of Hill House, Mayfair Witches), according to an article on mxdwn.
According to a prediction by ScreenRant, the third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians could premiere around December 2026. All episodes of the first season are currently available to stream on Disney+.
