Singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and Golden Globe nominated comedy Casual show-runner Liz Tigelaar are reportedly working on a single-camera comedy series exclusive to Hulu, Variety reports. The series will be a semi-autobiographical on Michaelson, “playing a heightened, fictionalized version of herself — a singer/songwriter who’s described as being at the height of her career, even if everyone thinks she’s Lisa Loeb.” Tigelaar wrote the script and will executive produce the series with Michaelson and Lynn Grossman.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hulu greenlit the series after a competitive bidding war with other network giants. The Hulu project is a second for Tigelaar who is a show-runner on Casual, creator of The CW’s Life Unexpected, and developer of a Showtime pilot called The Middlesteins. Meanwhile, Michaelson rose to fame for having made contact with a Grey’s Anatomy music producer back in ’06, and having a number of her songs featured on the ABC drama.
Michaelson is well known for her feminist outlook, blending humor in between her live shows. Such songs that saw her rise on the charts include The Way I Am and Girls Chase Boys. Her next release is a five-song EP featuring songs re-imagined from her 2016 album, It Doesn’t Have To Make Sense.
