‘Infinity Train’ Renewed for Season 3 at HBO Max

Cartoon Network’s sci-fi animated anthology series will find a new home for its upcoming season, Collider has reported. Owen Dennis’s (Regular ShowInfinity Train will air its third season exclusively on HBO Max.

Infinity Train is one of Cartoon Network’s most recent shows, with its first season premiering in August of 2019. The series follows a new set of characters every season (which are called “Books” on the show), but the location (and certain characters) remain the same. The series takes place on the eponymous “Infinity Train,” a train with a seemingly endless amount of boxcars that range from being like any other car on a train, a gateway to an entirely different world, and anything in-between.

The series is notable for using its fantastical elements to explore melancholic character drama. The first season focuses on its main character, Tulip (played by Ashley Johnson, known for voicing Ellie from The Last of Us) coming to terms with her parents’ divorce as she tries to escape the Infinity Train and return to the real world. The series also explores political issues such as dictatorships and anarchy.

The official sypnosis for the third season, released to Collider, reads: “In Book 3, Grace and Simon are the leaders of the Apex, an anarchic group of kids on a mysterious train. During one of their destructive missions, Grace and Simon get separated from the rest of the Apex and must find their way back. As the duo navigate through the myriad worlds of the train, they meet Hazel, an optimistic young girl, and Tuba, her gentle gorilla companion. Will Grace and Simon find new inspiration in Hazel’s innocence, or will the ways of the Apex recruit yet another aboard the train?” Grace (played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Killing Eve) and Simon (Kyle McCarley, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia) were introduced as smaller characters in Book 2, and will become the main characters in this new season. The voice actors for Hazel and Tuba have not been announced.

The first two seasons of Infinity Train are available to stream on HBO Max. The premiere date for Book 3 has not been specified, but has been confirmed to air this summer.
