The comedy troupe The Tenderloins are continuing to star on the silver screen. According to Deadline, WarnerMedia’s truTV just picked up Impractical Jokers for its ninth season. The show first premiered in December of 2011 starring Brian Quinn also called Q, James Murray also called Murr, Sal Vulcano, and Joe Gatto. It follows the four friends, also called The Tenderloins, as they challenge each other to the world’s most outrageous dares and stunts caught on hidden cameras. The show was created and is executive produced by the stars, and the series just filmed their 200th episode which is to premiere early next year.
The ninth season was announced during a live-streamed Q&A at their fourth annual Impractical Jokers fan event at the park in Petco Park in San Diego. Currently, the show is ranked as the #1 comedy series among P18-49 is produced by NorthSouth Productions was renewed for 26-episodes that reaches more than 1.2 million total viewers each week. Impractical Jokers is currently one of cable’s longest-running and top-rated comedies on the air.
Since its debut back in 2011, Impractical Jokers has brought its fandom into a multi-platform media circuit that involves sold-out lives shows, fan events, a themed cruise that will set sail in February of 2020, retail and consumer products, and a mobile museum installation that will travel to three tour stops after their exhibition at Staten Island Museum.
According to Deadline, the general manager for TNT, TBS, and truTV, Brett Weitz, stated, “For us it’s a no-brainer to bring this show back for a ninth season and give the fans what they demand. The guys consistently bring the funny and we are proud to be home to their hilarious antics.”
The Tenderloins are represented by Vector Management, Martin Lesad, UTA, and Danny Passman of Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman.
Impractical Jokers season eight will return on August 8 at 10pm.
