The streaming platform IMDb TV is bringing a new coming-of-age comedy series entitled High School to life from musicians Tegan and Sara according to Pitchfork. Currently, the upcoming series is based on the duo’s memoir under the same name and will be adapted by Plan B Entertainment, Clea DuVall (), and the Amazon-owned IMDb TV team. Additionally, Tegan and Sara will come on as executive producers for their series.
The announced project comes off the heels of the music duo’s latest album release in 2019 Hey I’m Just Like You. Tegan and Sara released their memoir in the same year as well. The television adaptation will follow the narrative of the memoir closely as it will center on the coming-of-age stories of the two in Canada during the 90s in addition to incorporating the musical side of their upbringings. Currently, there is no information regarding the cast of the upcoming streaming series nor any producers or showrunners as well.
Tegan and Sara are most known for their 2013 track “Closer” in addition to contributing with The Lonely Island to perform “Everything is Awesome” for the 2014 The Lego Movie soundtrack. “Everything is Awesome” was nominated for Best Original Song at the 87th Academy Awards, but ultimately did not take home the prize. The duo has also been nominated for a Grammy Award in 2013 for Best Long Form Music Video for their original DVD of their live album and documentary footage of the duo entitled, Get Along.
