Images, Plot Insight and Premiere Date Revealed for Season Five of FX’s ‘Fargo’

Fargo, the award winning series, will be returning to FX for its fifth season at ten p.m. on November 21. New images for the season were also released, according to Deadline and show first-looks and plot revealing scenes.

The series was created by Noah Hawley (Legion, Lucy in the Sky) and came from the 1996 Coen Brothers (Burn After Reading, A Serious Man) movie, also titled Fargo, which was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture. Deadline suspects that this upcoming season will take place in 2019 in North Dakota and Minnesota.

What happened at the end of season four? Well, character Dorothy Lyon (Juno Temple, Ted Lasso, Palmer), better known as Dot, has come into some trouble with the authorities. Dot’s life is flipped around and becomes something she thought she left in the past, which in turn, has left this seemingly normal housewife shattered.

Jon Hamm (Baby Driver, Top Gun: Maverick) portrays Roy Tillman, a North Dakota Sheriff. Roy Tillman has been after Dot for quite some time and has quite the ego. Roy is a rancher, lawman and preacher and believes himself to be far above the law. Too bad Roys hopeless son Gator, played by Joe Keery (Spree, Stranger Things), is stuck to him like glue, constantly trying to prove himself to hard-to-please father.

Dot is doing everything in her power to protect her family from her own dark past, but her husband, Wayne (David Rysdahl, Nine Days, The Revival) keeps running to his mother for help, who couldn’t be more dissatisfied with his choice of a wife. Dot’s strange behavior begins to catch up with her, and the Minnesota Police Deputy. But Dot is known for her will to survive and she’ll do whatever possible to protect her family.

Fargo has won a whopping six Emmys according to Deadline. Hawley has been acting as writer, director and showrunner of the acclaimed series. See new images for season five of Fargo here, set to release Tuesday, November 21.
