We are just days away, folks.
That’s right, Marvel fans, we are just days away from the premiere of Luke Cage on Netflix. And to help amp up the excitement, the streaming service released a new trailer today to give us a taste of the wonderful first season we can look forward to.

If anything, this trailer makes us wish we could skip the entire week so Friday would be here sooner. And it also explains how Luke Cage manages his not-so-bulletproof wardrobe without breaking the bank.
Luke Cage is a series we’ve been waiting for ever since Daredevil premiered on Netflix in 2015. Netflix’s master plan is to create four individual series which will culminate in a collaboration project called Marvel’s Defenders. Luke Cage is the third installment in the Defenders project which will feature Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
The character Luke Cage, like Jessica Jones, has superhuman abilities. After an experiment goes awry, Cage finds he has super strength and unbreakable skin. The series will focus on Cage who, despite being a fugitive, is trying to rebuild his life. But it wouldn’t be a superhero series if something didn’t drive Luke Cage to pick up the hero mantel (or hoodie).
Mahershala Ali will play Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, one of Cage’s adversaries. Alfre Woodard has been cast as Stokes’ cousin and local politician, Mariah Dillard, who is on a mission to clean up her hometown. Cage’s nemesis, Shades/Alvarez, will be played by Theo Rossi, and Simone Missick has been cast as Misty Knight. We will also see Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, the same role she played in Daredevil, in Luke Cage.
Luke Cage will premiere this Friday, September 30, only on Netflix. Will you be watching?
