IFC’s new show from Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, and Seth Meyers, Documentary Now! has released the full second episode ahead of the show’s August 20 premiere.
Documentary Now! is a series dedicated to spoofing documentaries. The six episode series will focus on a different iconic documentary to spoof each week. The series is hosted by Helen Mirren who introduces the documentary each episode. IFC has released the second episode in the series ahead of the series premiere.
The episode titled “DRONEZ: The Hunt for El Chingon” is a spoof on VICE style of journalism. Hader and Armisen star in this episode along with Jack Black. Hader and Armisen play journalists who continually ignore people’s advice about the danger of their mission until they are killed and replaced with journalists who look strikingly similar (Hader and Armisen again).
The full episode can be watched below.
While Meyers is one of the series main writers he won’t be appearing on screen with Hader and Armisen. “It would be nice to say my schedule is the reason I’m not on camera,” Meyers says. “I think the real reason is that the gap between Fred and Bill’s acting skills and mine is big enough that I could have sunk it from the beginning,” Meyers told The Wall Street Journal.
The series will premiere on August 20 on IFC. Until then you can watch the second episode and behind the scenes clips and teasers on IFC’s YouTube channel.
