As reported by Deadline, beloved actor Tom Sizemore, best known for his roles in Saving Private Ryan, Natural Born Killers, Black Hawk Down, and for hundreds of other film and television performances, passed away yesterday. He was 61.
Sizemore died from a brain aneurysm at the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank and had been in a coma for nearly a month following his debilitating February 18 stroke. The news of Sizemore’s passing was announced by his manager, Charles Lago, who confirmed Friday night that the Passenger 57 actor passed on peacefully in his sleep with his brother Paul and twin sons Jayden and Jagger at his side.
As Deadline writes, following Sizemore’s death, Lago released a statement to the public, “The Sizemore family has been comforted by the hundreds of messages of support and love shown to their son, brother and father. They are asking for privacy during this difficult time and I am asking for those wishes to please be respected.”
The award-winning actor is known for his dozens of film and television roles, as well as working with renowned directors like Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Kathryn Bigelow. With over 200-plus credits under his belt, Sizemore is most recognized for his major roles in Saving Private Ryan, Heat, Pearl Harbor, Wyatt Earp, Heat, Natural Born Killers, The Romance, Red Planet, as well as both the Hawaii Five-O and Twin Peaks revival series.
Lago affirmed that there will be a private cremation service for Sizemore’s family with a larger, public ceremony celebrating his life being held a few weeks after the cremation. Sizemore’s brother Paul expressed his grief online, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of my big brother Tom. He was larger than life. He has influenced my life more than anyone I know. He was talented, loving, giving and could keep you entertained endlessly with his wit and storytelling ability. I am devastated he is gone and will miss him always.”
