‘Hunter X Hunter’ Creator Shares Concerning Update On His Well-Being

A few hours ago on X (Twitter), Yoshihiro Togashi (Hunter X Hunter, YuYu Hakusho), posted concerning message regarding his back. Togashi posted, “My back hasn’t been feeling well over these past few days.”

According to Comicbook.com, this is not the first time the renowned anime and manga creator has suffered from debilitating back issues; Togashi has been seriously injured for quite some time. In 2022, Togashi expressed how sitting in a chair for long periods or using the restroom was unbearably painful due to his back pain.

” I have been unable to sit in a chair to draw for about two years, but I have managed to resume writing by giving up traditional way of doing things. Everyone, please take care of your hips. Until two weeks ago, before I wrote this [letter], I was unable to wipe [myself] and had to use the shower every time [I used the toilet]. Every movement takes 3 to 5 times longer than the average person. The back is important,” he said, according to Comicbook.com.

According to Sportskeeda.com, the last episode of Hunter X Hunter was released on September 24, 2014, nearly a decade ago, because Togashi’s chronic back pain prevented him from creating enough manga material for more anime episodes.

A couple of weeks ago, Shueisha, the publisher of the Hunter X Hunter manga, announced the latest volume of Hunter X Hunter will be released on September 4, 2024.

According to Comicbook.com, the newest volume will feature chapters 391 to 400. There are no updates regarding the English translations of the manga or a future anime adaptation.

The synopsis of Hunter X Hunter is as follows:

“The show centers around Gon Freecss, a 12-year-old boy who goes on an adventure to become a Hunter in hopes of finding his father. The Hunters Association holds an annual exam to determine if applicants are worthy of a Hunter’s license which is for elite humans with extraordinary abilities. This license allows its holder to go almost anywhere and do almost anything. Throughout the hunter’s exam, Gon meets many other characters – some with better motivations than others.”
