From series creator Meaghan Oppeneimer (Fear the Walking Dead, We Are Your Friends), Tell Me Lies just announced that the show will not be returning for a fourth season. The season three episode that dropped on Hulu at Midnight today served as season three’s ending and the show’s finale, according to TVLine.
TVLine mentioned that Oppenheimer stated on social media, “After three amazing seasons of Tell Me Lies, tonight’s episode will be the series finale. This was always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it. Your incredible response to this season inspired us to explore whether there was another organic way to continue the story, but ultimately we felt it had reached its natural conclusion.” View the full statement from her IG page below.
According to TVLine, Tell Me Lies is based on a novel written by Carola Lovering (Bye, Baby, Too Good to Be True) in 2018. The story is about two characters — Lucy Albright, played by actress Grace Van Patten (The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, Without You), and Stephen DeMarco, played by actor Jackson White (The Space Between, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines). The two met at Baird College eight years ago. The story is told in the present day with flashback scenes from their college days.
TVLine reports that in the third and final season, Lucy and Stephen rekindle their relationship ahead of the spring semester. However, their best intentions are disrupted by past sins. And things do not fare any better for their friends who must face the consequences for their poor choices.
According to TVLine, the show also stars Alicia Crowder (The Society, Bleeker), Costa D’Angelo (Shiver, The Deb), Cat Missal (The Blacklist, Doubt), Spencer House (Dr. Death, Small Engine Repair), Sonia Mena (Citywide, Rabbit!), Branden Cook (Chicago P.D., The Lost Boys)Alicia Crowder as Diana, and Costa D’Angelo as Alex. The co-lead of CBS’s new series, CIA, Tom Ellis (Lucifer), joined the series this season.
