Famous actress Meryl Streep (Giver, The Laundromat, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events) will reprise her role of Loretta Durkin in the hit Hulu show Only Murders In The Building, alongside co-stars Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place, Another Cinderella Story, Selena + Chef), Martin Short (Father of the Bride, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Morning Show) and Steve Martin (The Pink Panther, 3o Rock, Baby Mama), Deadline reports.
The hit true crime comedy series is currently returning with a fourth season. But what is the storyline? According to Deadline, Only Murders in the Building focuses on the lives of three people who share a passion for true crime cases till they actually end up being in one. As a graphic death happens in their building in the luxurious Upper West Side, the unlikely trio begins investigating using their knowledge and things they have learned by studying different true crime cases to find out the true culprit of this homicide.
According to Deadline, the actual season four storyline is being kept secret by the show’s producers. Craig Erwich (Pretty Little Liars, Rizzoli & Isles, Longmire), the Disney Television Group President, has teased in an exclusive Deadline interview that the show’s trio that includes Oliver (Short), Mabel (Gomez), and Charles (Martin) will begin the upcoming season with a vacation in Los Angeles, but when they return back to The Arconia, there will be a search of the person that killed Sazz, who was played by Jane Lynch.
Streep has had a lot of projects up her sleeve in the past years of her career. She was the star in the hit movie The Devil Wears Prada, alongside Anne Hathaway (The Princess Diaries, The Intern, Ella Enchanted). Furthermore, she was a main character of the hit HBO show Big Little Lies. To conclude, she starred in the famous regency-era movie Little Women, based on the novel with the same name.
This Academy Award winner show is still one of the most successful series from Hulu. It has earned the title of Hulu’s most-watched Comedy Original ever, according to Deadline. Only Murders In The Building is now featured in Hulu’s Top 15 Series and reached the top spot on Nielsen’s Top 10 Original Series chart since the first season was released.
According to Deadline, the co-creators, alongside executive producers Gomez, Short, Jess Rosenthal (Fire with Fire, License to Wed, This Is Us), and Dan Fogelman (The Neighbors, Crazy Stupid, Love, This Is Us), are Martin and John Hoffman (Good Boy!, Northern Lights, Adventures in Wonderland). The show’s production is by 20th Television.
Only Murders In The Building‘s first three seasons are available to stream on Hulu, and as stated beforehand, the fourth season is under production currently.
