Hulu has a new limited series adaptation coming, and the trailer just dropped. According to Deadline, the series is entitled We Were The Lucky Ones and is derived from author Georgia Hunter’s (What Should I Read Next?) 2017 bestselling novel by the same name. Logan Lerman (Fury, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and Joey King (The Act, Bullet Train) are set to star.
As per Deadline, We Were The Lucky Ones’ official synopsis reads: “Inspired by the incredible true story of one Jewish family separated at the start of World War II, determined to survive and reunite. The series demonstrates how in the face of the twentieth century’s darkest moment, the human spirit can endure and even thrive. The series is a tribute to the triumph of hope and love against all odds.”
Lerman and King will star alongside Henry-Lloyd Hughes (Archie, Ragdoll), Sam Woolf (The Witcher, Humans), Hadas Yaron (Felix and Meira, The Complexity of Happiness) Amit Rahav (Matchmaking, Unorthodox), Moran Rosenblatt (Hit & Run, Fauda), Eva Feiler (Urban Legends, Othello), Michael Aloni (Out in the Dark, Shir), Robin Weigert (Deadwood, The Sessions) and Lior Ashkenazi (Footnote, Big Bad Wolves).
Deadline notes that the We Were The Lucky Ones series is written and executively produced by Erica Lipez (The Morning Show, Julia), who will also take on the role of showrunner. Jennifer Todd, who executive produces at Old 320 Sycamore, will be an additional executive producer on this series alongside Thomas Kail (Verdon, Fosse), who is set to direct. Other executive producers on board are Hunter and Adam Milch (The Morning Show, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce).
This Hulu original series is produced by 20th Television, which is a part of Disney Television Studios.
We Were The Lucky Ones is set to debut on Hulu with its first three episodes on March 28. After its debut and as per Deadline, a new episode will be dropped weekly.
