Hulu’s ‘Mid-Century Modern’ Is Getting Ready for A Hilarious First Season

According to a TVLine article Nathan Lane (Lion King, Addams Family Values) and Matt Bomer (Flightplan, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) are bringing their talents to a live studio audience in the new comedy Mid-Century Modern. The show is set to air on Hulu on Friday, March 28, 2025 and the series will drop all 10 episodes at once says TVLine.

Per TVLine the show is created by Will & Grace masterminds Max Mutchnick (Good Morning Miami, The Stones) and David Kohan (Good Morning Miami, The Stones), with executive producer Ryan Murphy (American Horror Stories, Feud) onboard, Mid-Century Modern takes inspiration from the beloved classic The Golden Girls. The show follows three longtime friends who happen to be gay men navigating their later years says TVLine. They come together to live under one roof in Palm Springs after an unexpected loss changes their lives. One of them which is the wealthiest of the trio, already shares his home with his mother, adding another layer to their dynamic per TVLine.

The article continues by saying that the official synopsis teases plenty of humor and heart as they navigate their journey as a chosen family: “As a chosen family, they prove that no matter how hard things get, there’s always someone around to remind you it would be better if you got your neck done.” says TVLine. Joining Lane and Bomer in the cast are Nathan Lee Graham (LA to Vegas) and the late Linda Lavin (Alice), whose presence will add even more of a heartfelt moment to the series says TVLine.

Per TVLine Lavin passed away on December 29, 2025 due to complications related to recently diagnosed lung cancer. She was 87. Following her passing, Mutchnick announced that the series would reflect reality and he was going to incorporate her character’s death into the storyline. Veteran sitcom director James Burrows (The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Cheers) created the pilot and serves as an executive producer alongside Mutchnick, Kohan, Lane, Bomer, and Murphy.

With a talented cast and classic sitcom charm Mid-Century Modern is shaping up to be both a hilarious and heartfelt tribute to friendship, aging, and the bonds that make life worth living.
